The Society of Children’s Books Writers & Illustrators in France presents

FROM ORDINARY TO EXTRAORDINARY:

The craft of creating a great story and maximizing its marketing potential

A workshop led by agent Sarah Davies

founder of Greenhouse Literary Agency with offices in the UK and US

former editor at HarperCollins, Transworld/Random House, and Macmillan

Saturday, October 3

10:00-4:00pm

rue St. Roch, Paris 75001

The publishing industry can seem impenetrable, but this is an opportunity to get an inside, confidential look. The workshop will focus on crafting a book publishers will want.

Participation is limited, so you’ll get personalized feedback that goes beyond general information to what it really takes in concept, craft, and industry knowledge. You’ll also get insight into agents’ decision-making processes, client relationships, query-writing, and how deals are constructed, as well as tips on surviving the publishing roller-coaster to building a career.

Expect handouts, interactive sessions analyzing actual queries, and expert advice on choosing an agent and developing your craft.
